The 2 R+D Department (Research and Development) of The University School of Tourism and Hotel Management of the UAB deals with all the activities that encourage research in tourism issues at our school as well as at those regional, national or international institutions in which the EUTDH has collaboration agreements.

The 2 R+D Department consists of The International Centre for Tourism Studies and Research (CInERT) where EUTDH visitors and foreign researchers carry out their work. There is also the significant ARC (Consulting Service) of the EUTDH. This Department puts into practice CInERT's research work and specializes in tourism and the environment.

The 2 R+D Department is closely connected to the International Relations Department so as to divulge EUTDH research overseas. Collaboration agreements, information and exchange projects with our partners are also promoted by the Internationals Relations Department. Our students and lecturing staff are also encouraged to internationalise their professional training and their consolidation in the tourism field by means of study and research programmes.

Since 2000, a research team from The School of Tourism and Hotel Managemen t has compiled The UAB Index of Tourism Activity , which monitors the importance of tourism in Catalan economic activity. This index has become one of the most acknowledged research studies by the media, and the Spanish tourism and hospitality sectors.
