Classroom-Based Sessions Contact Time: Practical content is studied in depth in these lectures: communication techniques, group dynamics, tourist route design, practicum, first aid, etc. Students acquire practical knowledge of tourist guide skills. Printed material of the units studied in class is handed out therein, and the rest of the material is at students´disposal on the virtual campus. This training is complemented by career guidance in which students receive advice throughout and after the training to guarantee occupational success.
The training programme of the UAB is the best warranty for education. The virtual campus includes the theoretical content with practical activities related to the latter. On the on-line campus students have at their disposal a personalized follow-up, all course content , personal email address of the UAB to stay in touch with lecturers and classmates, self-assessment, forum, news, etc. The virtual campus works 24 hours a day, enabling participants to follow the course. Practical Training. Practical activities are included in each method: a city sightseeing bus tour , a city centre walking tour and a 4/5 day practical session turning a coach tour into a practical-training class , where students will be able to apply their knowledge gained from the course and experience unexpected setbacks in this kind of activities. This last practical training is the final assessment so teachers are highly demanding and check that students have understood tour guides' duties and will be able to put them into practice. |
