Course outline

The UAB Hotel Management Degree is academically-oriented and career centred. The aim is to educate course participants in the hotel management and catering fields by combining training in business administration, hospitality and hotel management with specific knowledge focused on the financial planning industry in a wider sense. A comprehensive education which provides students with the skills and competences to improve their personal training and its application to their professional activity.

The basic goals are reflected in the following two training programmes:

  • International Hotel Business Management.

  • Restaurant and Catering Management.

Assessment criteria

ECTS methodology, consisting of continuos assessment and evaluation of all academic work done by students.

Professional training

  • The compulsory work placements are planned and monitored in accordance with the course programme, entailing rotation around the different business areas of the industry, both public and private, Spanish and international (hospitality chains and business associations, consultancies, conferences, etc.).

  • First year training is at the Hotel Escola Campus (the on-campus hotel school).

  • Extensive optional training with more than 700 companies and institutions with which we have collaboration agreements.

  • Off-campus work placements are compulsory from the second year onwards.

  • A job shop with an 82% placement rate.

  • Company-school open days (more than 10 editions).

The Hotel Escola Campus

Practical training is imparted through a modern teaching method at the Hotel Escola, located on the campus of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, enabling course participants to take part in the day-to-day running of such a complex business as hospitality under the supervision of a team of hospitality and catering professionals. Practical training takes place in specialised facilities for such purposes.

International exchange programmes

  • European university exchange program: Universitat d'Algarve (Portugal) and a further 29 universities in the following countries: England, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Holland, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Portugal, Poland and Bulgaria.

  • The University of Puerto Rico exchange programme.

  • Bachelor in European Tourism at the University of Lincoln (UK).

Specific grants

  • 8 subsidy and promotion support grants.

  • 2 resource centre collaboration grants.

  • 2 research support grants.

  • 2 academic excellence scholarships to study at EUTDH.
