• Education in tourism and hospitality at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) commenced in 1993 when the Escola Superior d'Hoteleria de Catalunya opened. Four years later, this process was completed with the birth of the Escola Universitària de Turisme de la UAB. In the year 2000 the two schools merged to become the Escola Universitària de Turisme i Direcció Hotelera (The University School of Tourism and Hotel Management). This institution is dedicated to quality and innovation. It has been certified and has received awards for its performance. Besides, it is situated on an exceptional university campus in constant evolution.

Experience is a DEGREE.

The Escola Universitària de Turisme i Direcció Hotelera de la UAB has been imparting tourism courses at university level for more than 15 years (first degrees, postgraduate courses, masters degrees and specialised courses) and is in permanent contact with the tourism and hospitality industry with the aim of satisfying its requirements and needs. Training agreements with leading private companies and public institutions, both at home and abroad, facilitate students' access to the labour market through our career guidance centre.

• The Hotel Escola Campus (the on-campus UAB hotel, located in front of our school) is the venue for our students' on-site practical training. It provides an ideal framework for the practical application of theoretical knowledge to real-world service and management techniques in different departments.
  

Teaching, research and consultancy with a high DEGREE of academic rigour.

At the Escola Universitària de Turisme i Direcció Hotelera, the Area 2 R + D (Research and Development) is responsible for all activity fostering tourism research at our school and other institutions with which we have research project collaboration agreements. This department comprises CInERT - Centre Internacional d'Estudis i Recerca del Turisme (International Centre for Tourism Studies and Research) and ARC Área de Consultoría (Consultancy Service).

• CInERT fosters research and consultancy in tourism and hospitality, incorporating the UAB research tradition in tourism. Likewise, it coordinates and enlivens a wide range of postgraduate degrees, as well as specialised courses and continuing education, thereby fulfilling the needs of the tourism, hospitality and catering industries. ARC has a dual purpose: to provide practical application for research projects carried out by CInERT and to specialise in all issues related to tourism and the environment and tourism and the economy.

The DEGREE in Hotel Management*, oriented towards Europe. (*pending approval by ANECA)

The new official DEGREE in Hotel Management has a unique and innovative study programme with a specific four-year structure, which has been developed in partnership with the hotel industry . It is a European qualification (distinct from the Degree in Tourism), which is understandable and comparable in the whole continent because it has been adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), providing job opportunities designed for the world market and fostering students' international mobility.

• The UAB Degree in Hotel Management is oriented both academically and professionally towards management in the hospitality and catering sectors. It combines subjects in administration and management of hospitality, lodging and catering companies with multidisciplinary knowledge and competences at university level, which are in turn hotel and catering industry specific.
