This course is intended for people who want to get started in wine culture or to those who have already started off in this subject and want to know wine's origins and its evolution until our present day. This theoretical/ practical course is very attractive since how to analyse wines in an enjoyable and entertaining way is also learnt.

The vine's origins and wine culture.
Wine: between exaltation vinophobia (Judaism, Christianity and Islam).
Wine and vineyard expansion. Iberians: from beer to wine.
What did Greek and Roman wine look like? How was it drunk?.
Wine in the middle ages. The Catalan contribution: Francesc Eiximenis, Mestre Robert, Arnau de Vilanova.
Wine in modern times: expansion to America.
Vineyard plagues and new vinification models.
Culture and wine gastronomy. From traditional cookery to haute cuisine.
New consumption and tasting models, from Europe to America.

2nd session: Gastronomy and wine pairing.

Places are limited. Should the number of applicants exceed available places for each course, the EUTDH may decide to repeat the course at a later date or refund all paid course fees.
Should the course be undersubscribed, the School may cancel it and refund applicants' course fees.

. A receipt of payment should then be sent to the School in order to validate the enrolment. Places will be allocated strictly on receipt of proof of payment.
If cancellation is made two days prior to course commencement, the School will withhold 25% of the enrolment fee for administration expenses.
If cancellation is made once the course has begun, the School will withhold 50% of the enrolment fee in for administration expenses.
In the event of non-attendance, the School will not refund course fees.
