The International Centre for Tourism Studies and Research
(Centre Internacional d'Estudis i Recerca del Turisme:
CInERT
), created in 1998, is the result of collaboration between the University School of Tourism and Hotel Management
and different departments of the UAB
, as well as tourism industry companies and institutions.
This common debate area strengthens the synergies that derive from an intense relation, with the common aim of contributing to the improvement of tourism research. The fundamental objectives of the centre are based on this close collaboration:
1. It is the driving force for research into tourism in its diverse fields, incorporating the research tradition of the UAB in the world of tourism.
2. It is a point of encounter between the different agents involved in the improvement and management of the tourism industry. Constituted as a university platform for discussing the future of tourism, it has a place for the private sector, public institutions, the labour market and the university itself. In this spirit, the school is open to any initiative coming from these industries that assists, with positive contributions, to the proper functioning of a leading sector of our country's economy.
The CInERT
is part of the 2R+D dept of the EUTDH-UAB
, which manages research and postgraduate courses.
The director of the CInERT
and, at the same time, manager of the 2R+D dept, is Dr. Gemma Cànoves
.
Coordination of the CInERT
is undertaken by the lecturer Albert Vancells Farraró
and the research team is made up of:
Temporary collaborators in different projects produced by CInERT
.
Pre-doctorate scholars who assist in research.
The CInERT
is and has been responsible for the development of different studies in the course of its 14 years of history, among them:
The UAB Index of Tourism Activity.
Studies for different public administrations in strategic planning, demand profile, competitiveness or situation.
The Hotel Activity Report of the UAB.
Sectorial studies in different types of tourism, such as business tourism, cruises or rural tourism.
